Capital replacement waits for a budget cycle, so a municipal system often runs the oldest equipment left in the state, an engineering department of two or three people carrying a full substation portfolio, and a purchasing process that cannot absorb a slow, high-friction vendor. Parts that keep old equipment running, not a capital request

A small engineering staff does not have the bandwidth to chase an OEM that stopped answering the phone years ago. We machine replacement contacts and components for load tap changers, oil circuit breakers, voltage regulators, reclosers, and disconnect switches, held to the original dimensions and base metals, across the brands still running in municipal yards: General Electric, Westinghouse, Allis-Chalmers, Federal Pacific, McGraw-Edison, Waukesha, Reinhausen, ITE, Siemens, and Moloney.

When the part is discontinued and no drawing survives, we reverse-engineer it from the failed component, the piece itself becomes the specification. A Florida municipal utility called us after cracking a replacement CT passthrough block while tightening terminal connections during installation; we machined custom G-10 fiberglass replacements and shipped them in two days. For Southern States EV2 GOAB switches we rebuild the bearing with a stainless shaft, Viton O-rings, and sealed bearings, so the seizure that took out the original does not come back. We also build the UGOR universal gear operator replacement, a drop-in that ends the maintenance-to-seizure cycle of a traditional hand operator and, because the slew drive resists back-drive under switch loads, takes the handle kickback hazard out of switching. The UGOR is in service on investor-owned and municipal utility systems in Florida and the Southeast.

Field crews who show up without the onboarding fight

A two- or three-person engineering department cannot run a full field program in-house. Our field services division works substations in place across Florida and the Southeast: NETA-aligned acceptance and maintenance testing, transformer processing on our Baron vacuum dehydration and hot oil circulation rig, and switch and breaker repair. Oil samples for dissolved gas analysis go to a regional oil-testing laboratory in Tampa, with 24-hour turnaround available when a transformer decision cannot wait; we do not run our own lab.
