CT passthrough blocks mount on the transformer tank wall and carry the current transformer secondary wiring from inside the tank to the external terminal board. OEM blocks are cast phenolic or polyester resin — materials that embrittle with age and crack under the torque of a terminal nut after 40–60 years of service. When one breaks, the transformer comes down and no OEM replacement exists.
SSC machines replacement blocks from G-10 fiberglass laminate — woven glass cloth and epoxy resin — a material that does not embrittle, handles terminal torque without cracking, and is rated for continuous dielectric and thermal duty. A Florida municipal utility called us after cracking their replacement block while tightening terminal connections. We had their custom G-10 blocks machined and shipped in two days. The only delay was sourcing a large-format G-10 sheet we didn't stock. For standard sizes we keep material on hand.
- Material: NEMA G-10 fiberglass — does not embrittle, handles terminal torque, rated for oil and thermal exposure
- Contact pins: machined copper or copper-silver alloy matched to original diameter, thread pitch, and spacing
- No drawing required — send the old block as a sample, we reverse-engineer every dimension
- Any pin count, any layout, any mounting pattern — single-piece or two-piece assemblies
- Emergency turnaround available — transformer-down jobs handled first
