Why the UGOR
Gear operators on disconnect and air-break switches wear out, seize, and back-drive, and replacing them the conventional way often means modifying or rebuilding the mounting structure, a slow and costly job in an energized yard. The UGOR was designed to remove that problem entirely.
Its patented universal mounting backplate bolts to the structure already in place, so there is no fabrication and no structural modification. A maintenance-free slew drive eliminates back drive for dependable, repeatable operation, and a worn or seized operator can be swapped for a UGOR in an hour or less, minimizing outage time and crew hours.
Built for safety
Safety is the UGOR’s defining benefit. Its maintenance-free slew drive eliminates back drive, so the operator can’t drive itself back under load, one of the most common hazards with conventional operators. A four-position positive lock and a reversible open-plate indicator give crews unambiguous position and status, and because installation requires no structural modification, crews spend far less time working in an energized yard. Those are the features that put the UGOR into service on Florida Power & Light switch installations and new substation builds.
