A 230 kV autotransformer failed at peak load. Southern Switch mobilized next day: crane, removal, spare from a regional generating plant, installation, and apparatus testing.

A downtown Tampa OCB replaced with SF6. Southern Switch handled removal, installation, and P&C cabling. Partner Sigma C performed protection relay testing.

A 500 kV pantograph jaw burned through on lightning. Southern Switch machined a new jaw from billet, fabricated contacts, and rebuilt all three phases.

2,500 ft of generator bus stripped, silver-replated on aluminum, and re-insulated with Raychem. Completed in a two-week plant outage.

A disconnect switch feeding a stadium site, solder repairs had failed repeatedly. Southern Switch refurbished with silver inserts in under 24 hours.

A utility’s Southern States EV1 had a sheared operating shaft. Southern Switch machined a new arm from billet aluminum and refurbished the full switch set.

Full teardown, inspection, manifold fabrication, and reseal of an ABB AHMA hydraulic operating mechanism. A cracked manifold was machined from billet in-house.

A cast operating-mechanism part on a Siemens SF6 breaker failed in service. We reverse-engineered it from a sample, machined a stronger billet replacement, and returned the unit to service.

Seized Southern States EV2 rotating switch bearings rebuilt with stainless shafts, brass lock nuts, and Viton seals, a field-proven upgrade over the original design.

The EV2 linkage arm runs dissimilar metals throughout, aluminum nuts on steel ball joints, steel shafts in aluminum bores. Rebuilt with stainless ball joints, brass hardware, and brass bushings to eliminate the seize points.

A Florida utility’s two-bank station lost a transformer and the second was gassing. They needed .405″ copper rods for the mobile hookup crimp, not the 3/8″ on hand. Southern Switch came in Saturday.

A Southwest Florida electric cooperative planned a one-day outage to swap three leaking high-side bushings. New bushings matched the style number but a corona ring on the current production run wouldn’t fit the older mounting structure. SSC held on-site, tested the replacements, and finished the job.

An industrial facility’s 4160V breaker wouldn’t close. The mechanism cycled, the contacts didn’t move. Southern Switch responded same day, found a broken split pin on the operating linkage, and repaired it on-site. Back online the same day.

A Florida municipal utility cracked a CT secondary wiring passthrough block during installation. No OEM replacement existed. Southern Switch machined G-10 fiberglass replacements in 48 hours and got the transformer back online.

Two GE T875 voltage regulator boards in for maintenance. New copper and copper-tungsten contacts machined in-house, one OEM board reused, and a damaged board re-fabricated from GPO3.
