Overview
In-house refurbishment and upgrade of the Southern States EV2 GOAB switch bearing. The original aluminum-against-steel assembly corrodes and seizes; our rebuild replaces the shaft with stainless steel, the lock nut with machined brass, the seals with Viton O-rings, and the original bearings with sealed stainless units. Optional zerk fitting for periodic lubrication.
About the Southern States EV2 Switch
The Southern States EV2 is one of the most widely deployed group operated air break (GOAB) disconnect switches in Florida utility substations, used for isolation and load interruption in distribution and subtransmission applications. Its bearings and operating shaft are the primary maintenance items. The original aluminum bearing design is prone to corrosion and seizure in Florida's humidity. Southern Switch offers a full EV2 refurbishment including an upgraded bearing rebuild with a 316 stainless steel shaft, brass lock nuts, and Viton seals that outlast the original design in service.
