About the Moloney MA-1/MB-1 Load Tap Changer

The Moloney MA-1 and MB-1 are load tap changers produced by Moloney Electric and found in Moloney-nameplate transformers across Canadian and U.S. utility fleets. They use a transfer switch, selector switch, and reversing switch arrangement with bolted contact and lock-tab construction. The selector, transfer, and reversing switch contacts are the primary wear components at maintenance intervals.
