About the Moloney MA/MB Load Tap Changer

The Moloney MA and MB are load tap changers produced by Moloney Electric and found in Moloney-nameplate transformers across Canadian and U.S. utility fleets. They use a transfer switch, selector switch, and reversing switch arrangement with a collector ring for current transfer at each tap position. Transfer switch stationary contacts and collector ring finger assemblies are the primary wear components at maintenance intervals. Southern Switch machines replacement contacts and kits for both the MA and MB configurations.
