About the Moloney MA2/MB2 Load Tap Changer

The Moloney MA2/MB2 is the collector-ring variant of the Moloney MA/MB tap changer family, found in Moloney-nameplate transformers across U.S. and Canadian utility fleets. It uses a selector, transfer, and reversing switch arrangement with inner and outer collector ring assemblies for current transfer. Selector stationary contacts and collector ring assemblies are the primary wear components at maintenance intervals. Southern Switch machines replacement contacts and complete kits for the MA2/MB2 configuration.
