About the Moloney MA/MB Load Tap Changer
The Moloney MA and MB are load tap changers produced by Moloney Electric and found in Moloney-nameplate transformers across Canadian and U.S. utility fleets. They use a transfer switch, selector switch, and reversing switch arrangement with bolted contact and lock-tab construction. The selector, transfer, and reversing switch contacts are the primary wear components at maintenance intervals. Southern Switch machines replacement contacts and kits for both the MA and MB configurations.
