About the Westinghouse UTTB
The Westinghouse UTTB is an updated variant of the UTT with a revised arcing contact design that separates the arcing duty from the main current-carrying contacts. The arcing moving and stationary contacts absorb the switching arc on each tap change, protecting the main contacts from direct erosion. When the arcing contacts wear down, arc interruption becomes unreliable, raising the risk of restrikes and damage to the main transfer switch contacts. Southern Switch stocks new and refurbished arcing contacts for the UTTB alongside the full range of selector, reversing, transfer switch, and collector ring contacts.
Why replace worn LTC contacts
Worn or burned tap-changer contacts raise resistance, run hot, and can lead to tap-changer failure. Precision replacements restore reliable switching and extend the service life of the LTC.
Stock, lead time & reverse engineering
Common items are produced on short lead times; discontinued or hard-to-find parts are reverse-engineered from a sample, a drawing, or a model number. Based in Palm Harbor, FL, Southern Switch & Contacts manufactures and ships replacement parts to utilities nationwide, and has served the industry since 1982.
