Southern Switch & Contacts manufactures replacement disconnect switch contacts for Allis-Chalmers, ABB, Federal Pacific, General Electric, Westinghouse, and other OEMs. We machine contact sets in-house to original dimensional specifications using material that meets or exceeds OEM spec — with full material certification available. If your OEM has discontinued the part, that’s when we typically get the call.
Allis-Chalmers Switch Contacts
Allis-Chalmers disconnect switch contacts — including Type DH, DHW, EV, and EV2 series contacts and contact assemblies — are no longer available through the OEM channel. Allis-Chalmers ceased electrical manufacturing decades ago, and the product line passed through several owners without sustained parts support.
We manufacture Allis-Chalmers switch contacts to original dimensional tolerances using copper alloy and silver-plated surfaces where specified. EV2 switch contacts are a particular focus for us — the EV2 disconnect switch is common in Southeastern utility systems and the contact geometry is something we’ve machined in volume for years.

ABB Switch Contacts
ABB and legacy ASEA disconnect switch contacts for distribution and transmission-class equipment. ABB switch contacts are still nominally available through the OEM channel, but lead times and minimum order quantities make direct OEM procurement impractical for maintenance quantities.
We manufacture ABB switch contacts with shorter lead times and without the minimum order requirements of the OEM channel. Material traceability and dimensional certification are standard.

Federal Pacific Switch Contacts
Federal Pacific Electric switch contacts for outdoor distribution switchgear and disconnect switches. Federal Pacific no longer exists as a going concern, making OEM replacement parts unavailable through any authorized channel. Most Federal Pacific switch contacts in service today are running on original equipment that is 30–50 years old.
We machine Federal Pacific switch contacts to original dimensions from worn samples, customer drawings, or documented reverse-engineered profiles. If you have a worn contact set you can ship us, we’ll use it as the pattern.
General Electric (GE) Switch Contacts
GE disconnect switch contacts for Type DW, DWF, SGF, and related series. GE still supports some of this product line, but legacy configurations and discontinued switch models require aftermarket supply. We manufacture GE switch contacts to OEM specification with equivalent or upgraded contact material.

Westinghouse Switch Contacts
Westinghouse disconnect switch contacts, including Type PCL, PBS, and outdoor distribution switch contact assemblies. The Westinghouse electrical product line was acquired by Eaton and CBS, and parts support for legacy Westinghouse switches is inconsistent. We manufacture Westinghouse switch contacts in quantity and maintain dimensional data for common configurations.

We can match the OEM material specification exactly or upgrade to a more corrosion-resistant alloy where the geometry allows. For coastal Florida and Gulf Coast utilities, galvanic corrosion is a common failure mode on copper-steel contact assemblies — ask about stainless hardware options.
What We Need to Quote
To get an accurate quote, have the following ready:
- OEM manufacturer and switch model (nameplate or drawings)
- Contact type — main contacts, arcing contacts, or full assembly
- Quantity needed
- Worn sample or drawings if the OEM part number is no longer in the system
We deal with procurement requirements from IOUs, co-ops, and municipal utilities every day. Material certifications, dimensional inspection reports, and Buy American Act compliance documentation are available on request.

Switch Bearing Refurbishment
Switch contacts are one part of the disconnect switch wear package. If the bearings and pivot hardware are also worn — common in any switch that’s been in service 20+ years — we offer switch bearing replacement with upgraded sealed bearings, stainless shafts, and Viton O-rings as part of the same order. Ship us the contact hardware and bearing assemblies together.
