Overview

Reversing Switch Moving Contact (GE Prolec part R2028) for the General Electric Type VR-1 single-phase step voltage regulator. Machined to OEM dimensional specification, or reverse-engineered when the part is no longer available. Supplied to the correct current class, Low, Mid, or High amp, from the regulator nameplate.

About the GE VR-1 Voltage Regulator

The General Electric Type VR-1 is a single-phase, step-type voltage regulator used across distribution systems to hold voltage within ANSI limits as load changes through the day. Tap changes are made under load by the reversing switch and the moving and stationary contact assemblies, which are the primary wear items. The contact faces are an arc-resistant material and erode with each operation; GE specifies replacing the full set of stationary and moving contacts once they reach the wear limit. The VR-1 is built in Low, Mid, and High current classes and the contact dimensions differ by class, so each contact is supplied to match the current rating on the regulator nameplate. Southern Switch machines and reverse-engineers VR-1 contacts to the original dimensional specification and ships to utilities nationwide.

Why replace worn regulator parts

Worn voltage-regulator contacts degrade regulation and generate heat. Precision replacements keep the regulator switching cleanly and reliably.

Stock, lead time & reverse engineering

Lead time is confirmed at quote; discontinued or hard-to-find parts are reverse-engineered from a sample, a drawing, or a model number. Based in Palm Harbor, FL, Southern Switch & Contacts manufactures and ships replacement parts to utilities nationwide, and has served the industry since 1982.
