Overview
This is the full selector and reversing switch contact kit for the GE LRT-72 load tap changer: nine line items, 49 pieces. We make every part in the kit, and we sell each part on its own. If you need only the 27 selector stationary contacts, or one reversing switch, tell us and we quote that.
440 A or 525 A: three parts change
GE built the LRT-72 in two ratings, a 440 A low-current version and a 525 A high-current version. The two kits differ in three parts only: the selector movable assembly and the inner and outer slip rings. The selector stationary contacts, the reversing switch parts and the door gasket are the same in both. Read the rating on the nameplate before you order. If you cannot read it, send a photo of the selector movable assembly or a slip ring and we will identify the version.
About the GE LRT-72
The GE LRT-72 is a load tap changer with a selector switch and a reversing switch on each phase. The 27 selector stationary contacts and the 3 selector movable assemblies take the most wear, because they make and break the tap connections. Worn contacts raise resistance, run hot, and carbon the oil. Southern Switch machines new contacts to OEM dimensions and refurbishes worn selector stationary contacts in-house: we braze, blast and refinish the contact face, then check it to dimension.
Stock, lead time & reverse engineering
Lead time is confirmed at quote. Parts that GE no longer supplies we reverse-engineer from a sample, a drawing, or a model number. Based in Palm Harbor, FL, Southern Switch & Contacts manufactures and ships replacement parts to utilities nationwide, and has served the industry since 1982.
Quantities are per complete kit, 49 pieces. Where the 440 A and 525 A parts differ, both GE numbers are shown. Contact us for pricing and lead time.
