About the GE LR72 Load Tap Changer
The General Electric LR72 is a load tap changer used in GE distribution transformers. Its stationary contact and moving board assembly switch between tap positions under load, and the stationary contact face is the primary wear surface that requires periodic refurbishment or replacement. Southern Switch refurbishes LR72 stationary contacts and machines new contacts to OEM dimensional specifications.
Why replace worn LTC contacts
Worn or burned tap-changer contacts raise resistance, run hot, and can lead to tap-changer failure. Precision replacements restore reliable switching and extend the service life of the LTC.
