Past performance

2023 · Field Services subcontractor to Tampa Electric Company (TECO)
Transformer Elevation Serving MacDill Air Force Base
TECO retained Southern Switch as field services subcontractor for a hurricane-hardening project at two TECO-owned substations in the Tampa Bay area, including a facility serving MacDill AFB. Scope: crane coordination, lift and set of 4 power transformers onto elevated concrete and steel-I-beam platforms, and full transformer apparatus testing (TTR, Doble power factor, winding resistance, insulation resistance, excitation current, oil sampling) prior to return to service. TECO held the prime contract, owned the equipment, and performed final commissioning; Southern Switch served as field contractor for the transformer scope.

Southern Switch also manufactures precision switch and load-tap-changer contacts for, and has served as a field partner to, Duke Energy, Florida Power & Light (FPL), Baltimore Gas & Electric (BG&E), Dominion Energy, ComEd, ConEd, and Entergy.
