About the Allis-Chalmers TLS
The Allis-Chalmers TLS is a reactor-type load tap changer sharing design lineage with the TLG but with a different contact geometry, hub assembly, and collector ring arrangement. It is found in utility distribution transformers across the Southeast and Midwest. Southern Switch refurbishes original TLS moving finger contacts and stationary contacts to OEM dimensional specifications, restoring contact face geometry and silver surface condition to return the tap changer to original switching performance.
Why replace worn LTC contacts
Worn or burned tap-changer contacts raise resistance, run hot, and can lead to tap-changer failure. Precision replacements restore reliable switching and extend the service life of the LTC.
